Sweden has enormous potential that today is not being exploited. Thousands of people lack employment and the opportunity to acquire a profession. At the same time, the Swedish labour market is suffering from a skills shortage that costs society billions. If nothing is done, Sweden is estimated to lack 300,000, or an entire Södermanland, professionally trained person by 2035. 

Access to new skills is absolutely crucial for growth and welfare. The range and variety of professions is constantly changing, therefore an annual meeting place is needed where applicants can be easily and attractively inspired and motivated to their future polytechnic education. 

Swedish vocational education deserves extra attention, which is why WorldSkills Sweden initiated a week with full focus on vocational education week 42. As part of this initiative, Stockholmsmässan is starting a fair with full focus on vocational education, at polytechnic and adult education level, Profession + Future. For two days at Stockholmsmässan in Älvsjö, 100 exhibitors from the vocational college, Komvux, industry and companies will gather and jointly inspire and guide future students to their future.
